Overview
- Inspectors from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety carried out live trials this week that included deliberate face-to-face train scenarios and automated-braking simulations to test track interlocking and the Automatic Train Protection system.
- Teams inspected the Operations Control Centre and the Depot Control Centre at Subhash Nagar and ran trial services between Subhash Nagar and AIIMS to verify real-time monitoring and emergency protocols.
- Signalling installation on the 7 km priority corridor between Subhash Nagar and AIIMS is reported finished, but the system will not be used for regular two-way service until CMRS issues its formal clearance.
- Metro officials say that after CMRS approval the active fleet could rise from one to about four trains and headways could shorten to roughly 16–17 minutes, cutting long waits that now reach about an hour.
- This audit is the first step in a larger roughly 30 km phase covering Bhopal and Indore, and the CMRS report will list any shortcomings that must be fixed before full commercial operations begin.
