Client Arrested After Stabbing Hairdresser in São Paulo Over Disputed Hair Procedure

Police sent the case to a special court for minor offenses, a move the victim’s lawyers plan to challenge.

Overview

  • The attacker, identified as Laís Gabriela Barbosa da Cunha, was detained at the salon on Tuesday in Barra Funda and confessed to stabbing stylist Eduardo Ferrari in the back.
  • CCTV shows her pulling a knife from a bag and striking him while he served another client, and staff subdued her within seconds as the blade was recovered.
  • Ferrari sustained a superficial wound and completed a forensic exam, and he later said he fears for his safety after what he called an attempted killing.
  • Police registered bodily injury and threat and forwarded a summary report to the Juizado Especial Criminal, which handles lower-level crimes and typically reviews cases for out-of-custody proceedings.
  • Witness statements and WhatsApp records describe days of threats after a 7 April mechas and texturizing service, including messages about setting the hairdresser on fire, while videos posted after the attack show the suspect citing a “Cebolinha” fringe and admitting a homophobic slur.
