CleanSpark Sells More Bitcoin Than It Mined as It Moves Toward Data Centers
A $2.276 billion secured notes deal shifts the company’s focus from short-term Bitcoin holdings to long-term data-center revenue.
Overview
- CleanSpark reported it mined 529 BTC in September but sold or delivered 702 BTC, leaving a month-end treasury of 13,530 BTC and reducing holdings by 173 BTC relative to production.
- The company closed a $2.276 billion senior secured notes offering to finance construction of its Sandersville, Georgia data-center campus and will switch from monthly to quarterly mining reports.
- BitFuFu’s September production fell to 167 BTC as its planned majority purchase of an 80 MW Ethiopian site has not closed after the local electricity supplier issued a Sep. 28 notice threatening seizure of collateralized equipment.
- Canaan held steady at 44 BTC for September and brought an 8 MW Nordic heat-recovery project online that delivers recovered computing heat to about 2,800 homes while preparing a Canada greenhouse deployment.
- The updates show miners are using large financings, option deliveries and asset sales to fund capital projects which may cut treasury transparency, shift revenue toward leased data centers and raise operational risk where local power disputes can strand machines and capital.
