Overview
- Chief Justice of India Surya Kant laid the foundation stone for Zone II of the new Telangana High Court campus, which will include homes for judges and the chief justice.
- At the ceremony, Surya Kant said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy assured him the full campus, including residential and support facilities, would be finished in two years.
- The state has allotted 100 acres for the project and granted administrative sanction of Rs 2,583 crore to build the new complex.
- The plan is split into two phases, with Zone I for courtrooms and offices already under construction since March 27, 2024, and Zone II set to cover about 60 acres with housing, a central record room, and ancillary buildings.
- Surya Kant called judicial infrastructure essential and said the Hyderabad complex could be among the best in India, as senior Supreme Court judges and the Telangana High Court chief justice joined him in backing the effort.
