City Logs Flood Damage in Torres de Potrero as Door-to-Door Survey Continues

The effort channels aid by scoring water height with a simple color scale used in local emergency work.

Overview

  • Mexico City’s Secretariat of Citizen Attention sent 13 staff to Prolongación Mercadela for a home-by-home check that found damage in nine of 11 homes.
  • Inspectors recorded ruined washers, refrigerators, and TVs along with damaged wiring, furniture, and mattresses, plus structural harm to walls and entry gates.
  • Teams documented water height with a color scale: green for 10–15 cm, orange for 16–45, red for 46–99, and purple for more than one meter.
  • Power outages limited some inspections, and a few residents refused entry, which left parts of the count unfinished.
  • Under the Tlaloque emergency plan, teams filed reports to route aid after city officials linked the flood to a spill from a Lerma system gate, and they will keep surveying to complete case files.
