- Curb-lane restrictions on Columbus Drive began Monday as crews started phased setup for the 46th annual Taste of Chicago in Grant Park.
- Full street closures are set to begin at 6 a.m. on July 2 for Columbus Drive and Ida B. Wells Drive and at 6 a.m. on July 5 for Jackson Drive and additional Columbus segments.
- Taste of Chicago will run July 8 through July 12 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and is reported to include free performances by Common, Beach Bunny and Babyface.
- The Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications says all affected streets will reopen by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, July 13, and officials are urging commuters to plan alternate routes or allow extra travel time.
- The festival’s move back to July follows a pause of the NASCAR Chicago Street Race for 2026, returning the event to its traditional summer timing and restoring expected summer traffic patterns for downtown residents and businesses.
