CIK Carries Out Raids in Three Kashmir Districts in UAPA Case

Police recovered multiple digital devices for forensic examination as part of a long‑running terror‑funding probe and said the investigation will continue.

Overview

  • Counter Intelligence Kashmir teams executed coordinated pre-dawn searches across Srinagar, Ganderbal and Anantnag, with the operations reported on Saturday and still under way in some locations.
  • Teams searched the homes of Riyaz Ahmad Beigh in Hokarsar, Syed Qalandar Shah in Chountwaliwar, Lar, and Gulzar Ahmad Rather in Nowgam, Verinag, with officials identifying Rather as the local imam at Phali Masjid since 2012.
  • Authorities said the raids were carried out in connection with FIR No. 07/2023, a case registered at the JIC CIK Srinagar invoking sections of the Indian Penal Code and strict provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
  • Investigators seized multiple digital devices during the searches and specifically took a Redmi Note 9 Pro for forensic examination; teams also questioned family members and reviewed bank documents, and police said the Anantnag search ended without incident.
  • The seized devices will be forensically examined to trace communications and financial links as the probe continues, and police have not reported arrests from these searches so far.
