Church of Jesus Christ Sets June 27 Dedication for Nauvoo Visitors’ Center and Young Home
The timing honors Nauvoo anniversaries that the church uses to anchor its wider restoration program.
Overview
- Elder Gerrit W. Gong will preside over the dedication in Nauvoo, with in-person attendance by ticket and a live broadcast on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
- The Nauvoo Temple Visitors’ Center and the Brigham and Mary Ann Young Home will open to the public on June 29 with free admission and set daily hours.
- The new visitors’ center will include historical artifacts, interactive exhibits, a short film, a Tiffany stained-glass window of Jesus Christ, and activities for children.
- The restored Young family home adds structural and program updates, featuring a guided tour about the family’s preparations to depart Nauvoo for the West.
- The announcement builds on 2024 reopenings of Nauvoo sites such as the Joseph and Emma Smith Mansion House, the Smith Family Homestead, and the Red Brick Store, following a recent rededication at Hill Cumorah.
