Church Announces New Christ-Centered Experiences at Temple Square

New exhibits to center visits on Jesus Christ will be scheduled through the Temple Square app for the 2027 Celebration.

Overview

  • The Church released details Monday of new multimedia and sculptural experiences across Temple Square designed to teach visitors about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • Short five-to-eight minute videos about Christ’s life will be projected onto the inside of the Salt Lake Tabernacle dome with showtimes posted in the Temple Square app and on the website.
  • The Joseph Smith Memorial Building will house a surround-screen “Life of Christ Theater,” a reflective lobby, a mezzanine chapel explaining Sunday worship, and an interactive children’s area focused on Christ’s teachings.
  • The Conference Center, closed in March 2026 for infrastructure and exhibit work, will open galleries about prophets and personal revelation and display a replica of Bertel Thorvaldsen’s Christus statue.
  • Some elements are already open, including the Visitors’ Center experience that reopened in May, while full rollouts and exact opening dates for the new exhibits will be announced ahead of the Salt Lake Temple Celebration running April 5 through Oct. 1, 2027.
