CHP Probes I-10 Median-Crossing Truck Crash in Thousand Palms That Killed One

Overview

• The California Highway Patrol says a heavy truck crossed the center barrier on I-10 near Washington Street in Thousand Palms and hit oncoming traffic.
• Investigators report the truck struck a cement mixer and a Jeep after entering westbound lanes, then hit four more vehicles.
• The cement truck driver, a 62-year-old man from Yucca Valley, died at the scene.
• The eastbound truck’s driver, a 38-year-old man from Menifee, suffered major injuries, and six others had minor to moderate injuries that were treated at Desert Regional or Eisenhower.
