Overview
- Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia received a $50 million founding gift from the Einhorn Collaborative to create the David M. Einhorn Institute for Early Relational Health and formally launched the center at CHOP’s Research Institute.
- Dani Dumitriu, MD, PhD, was named the institute’s inaugural director and is set to assume the David M. Einhorn Endowed Chair in Early Relational Health on January 1, 2027.
- The institute’s near-term priorities are designing and rigorously testing real-world, scalable interventions that strengthen caregiver-child relationships and can be delivered in pediatric visits.
- CHOP plans to draw on internal units such as PolicyLab, child psychiatry, neuroscience, Clinical Futures and the Center for Autism Research and to partner with national groups to train clinicians and update care workflows.
- The effort builds on decades of research linking early relationships to brain and long-term health and could change well-child visits by giving parents practical, evidence-based practices to support early relational health and inform policy and training if trials succeed.
