Chocolatey Eyeballs Recalled for Undeclared Milk at TJX Stores

The FDA warns undeclared milk can cause life‑threatening allergic reactions for people with a milk allergy.

Overview

  • Crystal Temptations recalled five package styles of its Chocolatey Eyeballs on Aug. 31 after a TJX analyst discovered whey was not declared on the labels.
  • The products were sold at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and Sierra Trading Post in 13 states, including Arizona, California, Texas and New Jersey.
  • Recalled items include five style numbers and sizes: 7 oz. (54077-CHEY), 10 oz. (54040-CHEY), 10.5 oz. (58008-CHEY), 11 oz. (54083-CHEY) and 16 oz. (58089-CHEY).
  • Consumers are urged to destroy the candy and to contact Crystal Temptations with proof of purchase for a refund because retailers will not process returns.
  • No illnesses have been reported and the company says a temporary production and packaging breakdown caused the labeling error, a recall that adds to several undeclared‑allergen notices this year and could increase scrutiny of labeling controls.
