- The CHL opened a public vote through March 10 in which fans submit a top 10 from the list to determine the final ranking, with results expected in the spring.
- A panel of more than 40 media members produced the initial unranked 50 using CHL performance, broader impact and historical significance.
- Eligibility was limited to players who completed a full CHL season from 1975–76 onward in the OHL, WHL or QMJHL.
