- Donna Hyland will retire this year after leading Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta since 2008 and growing annual patient visits to about 1.2 million with more than 3,000 patients served daily.
- Patrick Frias, MD, currently co-president and CEO of Rady Children’s Health, has been appointed to lead Children’s and will start later this summer.
- Rady Children’s said Kimberly Chavalas Cripe will become the organization’s sole president and CEO once Dr. Frias departs.
- Dr. Frias previously spent 18 years at Children’s in roles including cardiologist, chief physician officer and COO, and he led efforts that culminated in the 2025 Rady–CHOC parent-company merger creating a three-hospital system with over 13,000 employees and more than 2,000 medical staff.
- Hyland’s tenure included consolidating Scottish Rite and Egleston, integrating Hughes Spalding, adding the Marcus Autism Center, developing the North Druid Hills campus, opening the Arthur M. Blank Hospital in 2024, and formalizing partnership ties with Emory University School of Medicine.
