Chicago Police Warn Of North Side Robbery Pattern Using Stolen Phones For Fraud
Some victims were forced into cars as suspects used the phones to move money.

- Chicago police issued a community alert Tuesday that links 12 armed robberies in River North, Lakeview and Streeterville between April 5 and May 10.
- In each case, a group took victims’ phones and other property by force or at gunpoint, then used the phones to make unauthorized charges or drain accounts through financial apps.
- Police said four victims were taken into the offenders’ vehicle and driven around while the suspects completed transactions on the victims’ phones.
- Investigators described one to three Black male suspects and said a dark SUV, a silver four-door sedan and another dark sedan were used in some cases.
