Chicago Police Seek Public Help After Two Separate CTA Assaults

Police have released surveillance images to prompt public tips that could identify suspects or show links between the attacks.

Overview

  • Chicago police circulated images for a man they say sexually abused a 48-year-old woman on a CTA bus in the University Village area earlier this month and asked for tips.
  • Officers also released surveillance of a suspect accused of pulling a Red Line passenger to the ground near Clark/Division, an attack that left the victim with multiple fractured ribs.
  • Both cases are active investigations with no arrests reported and detectives are asking riders and residents to check doorbell and security footage for evidence.
  • Anyone with information is asked to contact Public Transportation Detectives at 312-745-4447 or submit an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com using reference RD# JK399008 for the bus case or RD# JK423622 for the Red Line case.
  • The alerts follow a cluster of early- and mid-September transit incidents across CTA buses and trains that have raised rider safety concerns and prompted expanded evidence-gathering by CPD.
