Chicago Police Release Pawn-Shop Robbery Video Linking Four Jewel Heists

Authorities say the newly released footage could help identify masked suspects and lead to arrests.

Overview

  • Police released surveillance video Friday that shows the Aug. 11 pawn-shop robbery on West Cermak Road and says the same crew is tied to three earlier robberies on July 2, July 6 and Aug. 1.
  • Investigators say the suspects used a stolen gray or white Acura ADX, were armed with handguns, forced entry, demanded safe keys or access codes, and smashed glass cases to steal jewelry.
  • Officers described the suspects as two to four Black males in dark masks, one wearing a dark 'Glock' hoodie and another wearing orange-lens sunglasses, about 5'10" to 6' tall and 130–230 pounds.
  • Police say two victims were physically battered during the robberies and one victim had a wallet and cellphone taken, with all four incidents occurring at pawn shops including two hits at the same LeClaire Courts location.
