Overview
- Security forces in Narayanpur disclosed Tuesday that a month-long Abujhmad sweep recovered ₹1.01 crore in cash along with a large cache of weapons and explosive materials.
- The Abujhmad haul included three AK-47s, three SLRs, other rifles, two barrel grenade launchers, 132 BGL shells, electronic detonators, and bundles of cordex used to set off blasts.
- In a separate operation reported Monday, police found a concealed underground bunker in Bijapur’s Doditumnar–Patelpara area with generators, lathe machines, solar panels, a welding and drill setup, a country-made BGL launcher, 29 shells, and detonating cord.
- Police said both finds stemmed from joint teams using tips from surrendered Maoists and villagers, and they reported 270 weapons recovered in Narayanpur during 2025–26 as searches expand.
- Commanders warned that more hidden dumps and live devices likely remain in Bastar’s forests, a risk underscored when an explosive cache detonated during disposal on May 2, killing four personnel in Kanker.
