Cheshire Officer, 29, Killed in A534 Crash as 77-Year-Old Is Bailed in Ongoing Inquiry

Police are appealing for dashcam footage to help establish what happened.

Overview

  • PC Alice Mayo, 29, died at the scene after her blue Fiat 500 collided with a white Land Rover Defender on the A534 Spark Lane near the Moorhead Lane junction at about 9am on 7 February.
  • She was off-duty at the time, had served more than six years with Cheshire Constabulary, and worked on the Macclesfield BEAT team.
  • A 77-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving was released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
  • Cheshire Police urged the public not to speculate as the chief constable, the police and crime commissioner, and her family issued tributes describing her as “beautiful inside and out.”
