Chelsea Fined £150,000 Over 'Dangerous' Bottle Throw Into Aston Villa Dugout

The case turned on video evidence tracing the throw to Chelsea’s technical area.

Overview

  • An independent FA Regulatory Commission imposed the sanction on 23 January following a 19 January hearing.
  • The breach of FA Rule E20.1 stemmed from Chelsea failing to control personnel around the technical area after the final whistle on 27 December 2025 at Stamford Bridge.
  • Chelsea admitted the charge as commission findings said footage showed a plastic bottle launched from the home dugout into Villa’s area, passing very close to a substitute.
  • The panel called the conduct disrespectful, irresponsible and dangerous, noting that a similar act by a spectator would be treated as serious violence.
  • Neither the FA nor Chelsea have officially identified the individual responsible, no personal sanctions were issued, and the decision remains subject to appeal.
