Chase Relaunches Sapphire Preferred With 100,000‑Point Bonus and $100 Hotel Credit

The limited offer creates a narrow window for applicants to capture outsized signup value and changes the card’s everyday value for travelers.

Overview

  • Chase has relaunched the Sapphire Preferred with a 100,000‑point welcome bonus for new cardmembers who spend $5,000 in the first three months and a doubled $100 annual hotel statement credit for bookings made through Chase Travel℠.
  • Current or former Sapphire Reserve cardholders are generally considered eligible for the Preferred’s bonus if they have never been the primary holder of a Sapphire Preferred or previously earned its bonus, but Chase’s other rules still apply.
  • Key eligibility limits remain in force: Chase’s informal 5/24 guideline (likely denial after five or more new cards opened in 24 months) and one‑bonus‑per‑product or lifetime limits can block applicants from getting the bonus.
  • The $100 hotel credit posts automatically on the cardmember anniversary when you pay through Chase Travel℠, typically within a few business days but sometimes up to four weeks, and Chase will not award points on the portion covered by the credit.
  • Other large, time‑limited offers are live right now (100,000 on Ink Business Preferred and 90,000 on Southwest Priority), and applicants should weigh tradeoffs such as changed Hyatt transfer ratios for new Preferred accounts and the loss of hotel elite benefits when booking via an OTA before deciding to apply.
