- Tatyana Reisini and Kristen Roos say they honked and blew a whistle to warn neighbors about immigration agents on Nov. 17, 2025 and were then followed and boxed in by Border Patrol vehicles.
- The complaint alleges an agent pointed an assault rifle at the driver’s window, smashed the glass with the weapon, and agents zip-tied the women before holding them for about four hours.
- Federal prosecutors charged the women with assaulting officers after the incident but the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina dropped those charges in March 2026.
- On July 22–23, 2026 the pair filed a 17-page federal lawsuit seeking $2.5 million that alleges false arrest, assault and battery, malicious prosecution, and violations of their First and Fourth Amendment rights while citing bystander and doorbell video.
