- Brussels South Charleroi Airport confirmed it will suspend all flight operations from August 15 to October 31, 2028, to carry out the works.
- The project covers a complete resurfacing of the single 3,200-metre runway and wider infrastructure upgrades that airport officials say will be done simultaneously to shorten the disruption.
- Belgian broadcaster RTBF reported the works will cost about €50 million, and analysts using Statbel passenger data estimate roughly two million travellers could be affected during the 11-week closure.
