Overview
- CFM and IndiGo signed a memorandum of understanding on July 20 at the Farnborough Airshow for more than 1,000 LEAP-1A engines to power 510 Airbus A320neo-family jets.
- The IndiGo MoU includes a long-term material services agreement for spare parts and CFM support to establish an IndiGo engine maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in India.
- BOC Aviation announced its largest-ever engine commitment for up to 300 LEAP engines, split as 200 LEAP-1A for A320neo-family jets and 100 LEAP-1B for 737-8s, consisting of a mix of firm orders and options.
- Several lessors have also picked LEAP power, with Jackson Square Aviation, SMBC Aviation Capital and other leasing groups confirming selections and spare-engine purchases to back their narrowbody portfolios.
- CFM is rolling out durability upgrades for the LEAP fleet, including a high-pressure turbine durability kit and a reverse bleed system, and the next steps are contract finalisation, delivery scheduling and execution of MRO arrangements.
