Overview
- Manzanillo III, which entered commercial service Friday, adds 346 MW through a gas turbine and a steam unit.
- The plant now participates in the wholesale power market, letting grid operator CENACE dispatch it to meet demand in the West and the Bajío.
- CFE says the units will cut about 1.4 million tons of CO2 each year, roughly the emissions of more than 300,000 gasoline cars.
- The company also cites about 93 million liters of annual water savings and noise below 65 decibels at the site.
- As a combined-cycle facility with an expected life of at least 30 years, it fits the federal modernization plan led by President Claudia Sheinbaum and energy secretary Luz Elena González.
