Overview
- An HLC chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah approved additional support for regions hit by 2025 floods, flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides and cyclone Montha.
- Allocations total Rs 1,912.99 crore: Andhra Pradesh Rs 341.48 crore, Chhattisgarh Rs 15.70 crore, Gujarat Rs 778.67 crore, Himachal Pradesh Rs 288.39 crore, Nagaland Rs 158.41 crore, Jammu & Kashmir Rs 330.34 crore.
- Funds are released from the National Disaster Response Fund with a requirement to adjust 50% of each recipient’s opening State Disaster Response Fund balance.
- The package supplements FY 2025–26 disbursements that include Rs 20,735.20 crore under SDRF, Rs 3,628.18 crore under NDRF, Rs 5,373.20 crore under SDMF and Rs 1,189.56 crore under NDMF.
- The approval follows state damage assessments, including an Andhra Pradesh report citing Rs 6,352 crore in losses, 3,109 villages affected and 1.92 lakh people evacuated during cyclone Montha.
