Centre Clears MSP Purchase of 1.25 Lakh Tonnes of Telangana Pulses and Oilseeds

Under PSS, buying triggers only when prices fall below MSP, with central agencies purchasing directly from registered growers.

Overview

  • The Agriculture Ministry put the outlay at about ₹894 crore for the 2025–26 rabi harvest.
  • Procurement will be executed under the PM-AASHA Price Support Scheme, which is administratively capped at up to 25% of national production.
  • Crop-wise targets are 29,860 tonnes of gram, 37,020 tonnes of black gram, 55,285 tonnes of groundnut, and 3,690 tonnes of sunflower seed.
  • NAFED and NCCF will procure from pre-registered farmers meeting Fair Average Quality norms, cutting out middlemen.
  • The Centre said it will absorb procurement costs and any losses, and the Agriculture Minister stated the move aims to ensure remunerative prices and encourage pulses and oilseeds output.
