Centre Approves 5,000 PMAY-G Homes for Displaced Families in Manipur

The move opens a special Awaas+ 2024 survey to verify displaced families under PMAY-G rules.

Overview

  • Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan cleared the project for FY2025–26 after meeting Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh in New Delhi with his two deputies.
  • Beneficiaries will be identified strictly under PMAY-G guidelines, with household details uploaded through the Awaas+ 2024 mobile application.
  • The state may sanction homes for eligible people who had earlier received PMAY-G installments but lost their houses during the ethnic violence.
  • All units will be built according to PMAY-G’s Framework for Implementation, and the state can continue registration under the special project.
  • Chouhan pledged central assistance to restore peace as Manipur pursues resettlement targets following violence that has killed at least 260 people and displaced thousands.
