Central Railway Shifts Daytime Maintenance to Midnight, Alters Routes for OHE Upgrades

The move keeps daytime travel clear for NEET candidates while essential safety work continues overnight.

Overview

  • Central Railway canceled its usual daytime mega block to keep trains running for NEET UG test-takers and moved the work to a midnight window instead.
  • During the midnight block, Main Line slow trains run on the fast tracks between CSMT and Vidyavihar and stop at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, and Kurla to keep access at key stations.
  • Trans-Harbour services between Thane and Vashi or Nerul are suspended through the block hours, with several late-night departures and returns canceled in that span.
  • Separate night engineering blocks between Kalyan and Badlapur are under way to remove overhead equipment infringements on the third and fourth lines, pausing suburban services in those short windows.
  • Long-distance trains are diverted via the KarjatPanvel corridor, with extra halts at Panvel and Thane for passengers who would use Kalyan, and late-running services may face further regulation.
