Central Bank Says R$10.27 Billion in Unclaimed Funds Remain as Automatic PIX Refunds Debut
Eligible individuals opt in via a gov.br account with two-step verification using a CPF PIX key.
Overview
- The December 2025 snapshot shows R$10.267 billion unclaimed, with R$7.97 billion for 49.6 million individuals and R$2.297 billion for about 5 million firms; the system has returned R$13.35 billion, including R$429 million in December.
- A new optional automatic request lets natural persons who enroll receive PIX credits without manual claims, contingent on a gov.br silver or gold account with two-step verification and a CPF PIX key.
- Very small balances dominate the lists, with 64.94% entitled to up to R$10, 23.30% to R$10.01–R$100, 9.90% to R$100.01–R$1,000, and only 1.87% above R$1,000.
- Most remaining funds sit with banks (R$6.118 billion), followed by consortium administrators (R$2.591 billion) and credit cooperatives (R$933.936 million).
- Consult and claim only via valoresareceber.bcb.gov.br; some cases still require contacting the institution, and the Central Bank warns it never seeks personal data by message or call.
