Overview
- Jackie was found grounded after a territorial fight near Dana Point Park on July 17 and was transported to the Ojai Raptor Center for emergency care.
- Vets administered a life‑saving blood transfusion from donor eagle Spirit and provided oxygen and supportive treatments as her packed cell volume initially rose then later declined.
- On Aug. 5–6 Jackie underwent a contrast CT scan and a bone marrow biopsy, and she recovered from anesthesia into supplemental oxygen therapy.
- As of Aug. 7 she is back in intensive care with her PCV below 10% while the raptor center and consulting specialists nationwide review results from expedited, specialized laboratory testing including expanded heavy‑metal panels.
- The Ojai Raptor Center is asking the public not to interfere, is accepting mailed notes of encouragement, and says recovery could take weeks to months with prognosis uncertain until diagnostic results guide targeted treatment.
