Celebrity Apprentice Christmas Special Wraps With Real-World Biscuit Sales and Spiky On-Screen Drama

Retail distribution of the contestants’ biscuits from mid-November turned the charity special into a public test of the rebooted format.

Overview

  • The two-part Celebrity Apprentice aired December 29–30 on BBC One and iPlayer in aid of BBC Children in Need.
  • Twelve well-known figures were split into teams in Lapland to develop gingerbread biscuits, adverts and jingles, then pitch to retailers.
  • In a first for the franchise, the biscuits went on sale to the public from November 14 at major outlets including Asda, Tesco, Boots and Amazon.
  • Viewers and critics reacted strongly to visible clashes — notably AJ Odudu and Rob Rinder — as Eddie Kadi later said the cast “turned on each other” and “a villain was created.”
  • Thomas Skinner’s emotional return drew fresh attention to his recent Strictly voting allegations, which the BBC has said are entirely without foundation, while Mike Soutar joined Karren Brady as Lord Sugar’s aide.
