Overview
- Officers responded just before 2 a.m. to a Sleepy Hollow Drive home after a man reported people trying to harm his family.
- Dispatchers reported hearing a gunshot en route, and arriving officers say they were fired upon before two officers returned fire.
- Two women were evacuated, including one who police said had been shot before officers arrived and was hospitalized in serious condition.
- The man inside surrendered at about 3:36 a.m. and was identified as 44-year-old Dustin Hancock, who was booked into DeSoto Jail on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence) and two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant.
- No officers were injured, and police say their gunfire is not believed to have injured anyone as Grand Prairie police and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Public Integrity Unit lead the investigation.
