- The Chief Election Commissioner met more than 1,500 Booth Level Officers at Indore’s Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium on Saturday to gather frontline feedback on voter rolls, voter assistance and booth-level polling arrangements.
- Kumar was received by senior state and district election and administrative officials, including Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Kumar Jha and Indore divisional and civic leaders, to reinforce operational coordination between the ECI and local machinery.
- He visited the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga during the trip and said the pilgrimage fulfilled a 23-year vow, using the occasion to urge citizens to value spirituality and contribute positively to the country’s progress.
- Booth Level Officers are responsible for maintaining electoral rolls and helping voters at the booth level, and the CEC’s direct outreach is intended to identify practical problems on the ground that could improve roll accuracy and polling-day logistics.
- The visit, which follows a similar ECI outreach in Delhi, is being presented by the commission as the start of an institutional effort to make regular, direct engagement with BLOs a feature of Kumar’s tenure.
