The studio is modernizing the 2015 RPG to rekindle its player base ahead of a paid 2027 expansion that is meant to link to a planned Witcher 4 in 2028.

Overview

  • At Gamescom on Tuesday, CD Projekt Red announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered will launch on Sept. 29, 2026 as a free upgrade for existing owners on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and as a native Nintendo Switch 2 release.
  • The company has made the two story expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine available at no extra cost to current owners and included them with the Remastered build.
  • CD Projekt Red revealed Songs of the Past, a paid expansion due in 2027 that sends Geralt to a new region called Letten, adds new enemies and weapons, and is co-developed with Polish studio Fool’s Theory.
  • The studio reiterated that Witcher 4 is targeting a 2028 window, will shift focus to Ciri, and that CD Projekt Red plans a multi‑title Witcher cadence supported by external partners and Unreal Engine 5 to shorten development times.
  • The remaster and DLC will appear on new platforms and storefronts, including Battle.net via a Blizzard partnership that includes cross‑promo rewards, a move aimed at re‑engaging tens of millions of players and boosting near‑term commercial results.
