CD Projekt Red Releases PS5-Only Hotfix to Improve Witcher 3 Remastered Stability

The studio says the small update targets crashing and stability problems while a separate Nintendo Switch 2 build remains in active development.

Overview

  • CD Projekt Red pushed a platform-exclusive hotfix labeled 5.01b that appears on PlayStation 5 as update 5.000.500 to address stability on PS5 and PS5 Pro, the patch notes listing only general stability improvements.
  • Players reported mixed results after the October 13 update, with some users saying lighting inconsistencies on base PS5 were improved but others continuing to experience crashes and persistent frame drops.
  • Wider reporting consolidates a range of ongoing issues since the remaster’s Sept. 29 release, including stuttering, HDR and brightness inconsistencies, flickering shadows, texture glitches, slow inventory loads, and save/load crashes across platforms.
  • CD Projekt Red has been issuing rapid hotfixes and larger updates to restore visual parity and performance, and the studio confirmed a separate Switch 2 patch intended to improve clarity and sharpness is still being worked on with no release date.
  • The remaster’s sweeping visual and systems changes — such as path tracing, revised lighting and gameplay tweaks — are being stabilized because the studio plans to use the updated version as the base for next year’s paid Songs of the Past expansion and future Witcher work.
