CBI Seizes Cash, Gold in WCL DA Probe and Arrests Army Officer in Defence Bribery Case

- The agency registered the disproportionate-assets case on December 18 against a Western Coalfields area sales manager and his wife, alleging Rs 45.23 lakh beyond known income.
- Searches recovered Rs 17 lakh in cash, 900 grams of gold, a built-up house in Mohali, three agricultural plots in Dhanbad, and a luxury vehicle.
- In a separate FIR on December 19, the CBI arrested Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma and private individual Vinod Kumar over alleged corruption tied to defence production and exports.
- The FIR also names Colonel Kajal Bali, the commanding officer of the 16 Infantry Division Ordnance Unit in Sri Ganganagar, as well as a Dubai-based company.
- Investigators say Vinod Kumar delivered a Rs 3 lakh bribe to Lieutenant Colonel Sharma on December 18, and identify Bengaluru-based managers Rajiv Yadav and Ravjit Singh as contacts for the firm.
