CBI Reopens Probe Into Patna NEET Aspirant’s Death, Inspects Hostel and Meets Family

Investigators have begun a fresh review of prior findings to address disputed claims over the cause of the 17-year-old’s death.

CBI registered a case and on February 14 conducted a detailed on-site inspection of Shambhu Girls Hostel, photographing and collecting visual evidence.
On February 15, an 18-member team visited the student’s home in Jehanabad, meeting parents, neighbours and villagers for several hours.
Officials are reassessing the Patna Police SIT’s work, including DNA samples from about 30 people, with crime-scene recreations under consideration according to police sources.
Post-mortem and FSL reports state sexual assault cannot be ruled out, contrasting with the initial police view that pointed to suicide after sleeping pills were found.
Related developments include the earlier arrest of a hostel employee and a police search of ex-IPS officer Amitabh Kumar Das’s residence following an FIR alleging attempts to divert the probe.
