Overview
- The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a first information report on May 15 that was made public Wednesday accusing Captain Raminder Singh Wadhwa (retd) of acquiring assets beyond his declared income.
- The FIR says about ₹3.18 crore in assets could not be satisfactorily explained after accounting for declared income and some expenditures.
- Specific immovable properties flagged include a ground floor and basement in Safdarjung Enclave, land in Gurugram and Panchkula, and space in Gurugram’s Electronic City that the agency is now examining.
- The agency’s check period covers April 2010–March 2020 and investigators are verifying bank accounts, property documents and investments in a preliminary probe with no arrests so far and searches possible.
- Wadhwa served in sensitive postings such as naval design and Strategic Forces Command, the case follows recent CBI actions involving military personnel and could prompt wider scrutiny of defence-linked assets and records.
