CBI Files 10th Chargesheet in Noida Homebuyers Probe Against Shubhkamna Buildtech

The filing escalates a Supreme Court‑ordered probe into alleged developer fraud with possible ties to bank officials.

Overview

  • The CBI on May 29–30 filed a chargesheet against Shubhkamna Buildtech Pvt. Ltd. and its directors in a Greater Noida housing project case, marking the tenth formal charge-sheet in the nationwide homebuyers investigation.
  • The agency accused the company and its directors of criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal breach of trust under the Indian Penal Code, saying they used false assurances and misleading promises to obtain buyers’ funds.
  • The probe was launched on the Supreme Court’s direction and now covers roughly 50 related cases across India as investigators examine patterns of stalled projects, fund diversion and developer conduct.
  • Earlier CBI filings have named several other developers and in some matters the agency has also arraigned unnamed officials of banks and financial institutions for their alleged roles in moving or enabling funds.
  • For homebuyers the chargesheet is a step toward legal accountability because it can lead to trials and possible asset tracing; the wider effect may include more scrutiny of developer financing and pressure on banks to tighten oversight.
