Overview
- Assistant Garrison Engineer Sunil Nikam and Junior Engineer Suresh Mhaske of MES Khadki, Pune, were arrested on Thursday, according to the CBI.
- The CBI caught Mhaske in a trap while he allegedly accepted ₹2 lakh from the complainant, and the cash was recovered from his office.
- The case was registered on February 3 after a complainant with power of attorney for a private firm alleged bribe demands to clear payments for completed works.
- Searches at the accused officers’ homes and offices led to the seizure of documents and unexplained cash totaling ₹1,88,500.
- In a separate update, the CBI arrested proclaimed offender Renu Saxena in Meerut in a 2012 Punjab and Sind Bank fraud case; she had been declared a proclaimed offender in 2017.
