- The two Shahdara North Zone officials, Deputy Commissioner Lt Col Abhishek Kumar Mishra and Administrative Officer Devanshu Gautam, were remanded to one-day CBI custody on Tuesday after a trap operation caught them in an alleged Rs 4 lakh payoff.
- The case began with complaints from two suspended MCD employees who said Gautam sought money to secure a favorable inquiry report, which Mishra was responsible for preparing as the inquiry officer.
- CBI told the special court it caught Gautam accepting the cash in a car on Monday, then arrested Mishra after agents recovered the alleged bribe from his home.
- Investigators submitted a transcript of a call in which Gautam allegedly confirmed delivery of “four” to Mishra, bolstering evidence that the payment was meant to influence the departmental outcome.
- The agency said searches and interviews are underway to identify any other officials involved, while Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta pledged strict action and urged clean governance across the civic body.
