Overview
- The CBI arrested former IDFC area head Shamim Dar and ex‑AU Small Finance branch manager Charanjeet Singh Randhawa, and it later took into custody Pardeep Kumar, the former member secretary of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board, in its ongoing probe.
- The agency has filed a chargesheet against 17 accused in the Haryana case that includes six bank officials, three Haryana government servants, two companies and six private individuals.
- Investigators say surplus departmental funds meant for secure fixed deposits were diverted through forged or non‑existent FD receipts, unauthorised debit notes and fraudulent debit transactions and then routed to shell entities.
- The CBI says Pardeep Kumar was directly linked to the HSPCB transactions, that an account was opened without required approvals and no fixed deposits were created, causing an estimated net loss of about ₹169 crore to the board.
- The federal agency took over the inquiry from Haryana vigilance units, has expanded work to two Chandigarh‑linked cases and is conducting custodial and forensic searches to trace the money and recover assets with more legal action possible.
