Overview
- Federal prosecutors charged Travis Barr Longo with receiving and possessing child pornography after authorities say a June 18 search of his cellphone found numerous images and videos of child sexual abuse.
- Court records and prosecutor statements say the device included several videos depicting the sexual abuse of infants and chats in which Longo discussed sexual interest in a minor he knew.
- Longo also faces four state counts of endangering the welfare of a child and made a virtual federal court appearance where a judge ordered him held pending further proceedings.
- In response to the allegations Longo resigned as vice president of the Cazenovia Central School District board and the local Cazenovia Pride group canceled its festival and disbanded.
- Investigations are led jointly by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, New York State Police and HSI Buffalo; authorities have asked the public for tips and say there may be additional victims while legal proceedings continue.
