Cathay Home Drops ‘Swift Home’ Trademark Bid After Taylor Swift Opposition

A company attorney said the cursive logo application was not essential to the business.

Overview

  • TAS Rights Management filed an opposition on Feb. 11 arguing Cathay Home’s cursive “Swift” resembles Taylor Swift’s trademarked signature and could create a false association.
  • Cathay Home’s attorney told Reuters the company has abandoned the 2025 application and has not used the disputed mark in commerce.
  • The attorney said Cathay previously entered a coexistence agreement with Swift for a different “Swift Home” trademark that was not challenged in the filing.
  • USPTO records had not yet been updated to show the abandonment, and the TTAB had instituted the case with a 60‑day window for Cathay to answer.
  • Public filings show Cathay holds a 2016 “Swift Home” registration renewed on Jan. 23, 2026, and sells bedding through major retailers.
