Overview
- Catalan authorities activated the Inuncat flood-risk plan and issued public safety alerts on Thursday as the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya raised heavy-rain and violent-weather warnings for parts of Barcelona and Girona provinces.
- Meteocat warned of very high short-term rainfall rates that can exceed about 40 l/m² in 30 minutes and reach 60 l/m² in three hours, thresholds linked to fast-onset flash floods.
- Violent-weather advisories targeted Lluçanès, Osona, Ripollès, Solsonès and especially Berguedà with forecasts of hail larger than 2 cm and gusts above 90 km/h.
- Early impacts reported on Thursday included around 10 emergency calls to 112 (six from Ripollès) and the C-17 road at Ripoll closed both ways after fallen trees blocked the route.
- By Friday morning forecasts had eased for the day with no active alerts for many areas but agencies warned rivers and rieres remain high and told people to avoid waterways and call 112 in emergencies.
