Cast Previews Take Flight for Soarin’ Across America at EPCOT Ahead of May 26 Opening

Disney uses a U.S.-themed update to honor the 250th anniversary with new scenes, a re-scored soundtrack, and a National Geographic trivia queue.

Overview

  • Cast member previews began Thursday at EPCOT after Soarin’ Around the World closed earlier in the week, with Annual Passholder previews on May 19–20 and the public opening set for May 26; Disney California Adventure debuts the film July 2.
  • Disney named featured locations across the country, including the rugged New England coastline, New York Harbor, Grand Canyon West, Mount Rushmore, Hawaiian shores, bayous, the great plains, and the northern wilderness.
  • The experience keeps the motion-simulator feel with wind and scent effects and introduces a new Bruce Broughton arrangement of Jerry Goldsmith’s original Soarin’ themes.
  • EPCOT’s queue now includes the Soarin’ Challenge Across America, an interactive state trivia game created with National Geographic using facts and archive photography.
  • Disney labels the presentation a limited-time offering tied to the U.S. semiquincentennial, and the EPCOT entrance has gained patriotic bunting with the ‘Around the World’ wording removed from the marquee.
