Overview
- Jeroen Jarrel Coombs, 32, was arrested in Marion County on an aggravated child abuse charge after 3-year-old Paisley Brown died on Feb. 19 at a home in Citra.
- Deputies say Coombs admitted binding the child’s hands with a robe tie and taping her legs, then dropping and striking her before acknowledging he “took it too far.”
- A juvenile witness told investigators they heard Coombs strike the child and reported prior instances of physical abuse.
- Coombs called the child’s mother instead of 911 when she became unresponsive, and authorities were notified roughly 40 minutes later.
- He appeared in court on Feb. 20 and is jailed without bond as detectives work with the State Attorney’s Office on potential further charges.
