Cards Against Humanity Starts $10 Design Committee to Build Monument Mocking Elon Musk

A paid crowdfunding push aims to pressure Musk by proposing a monument on CAH’s annexed parcel near SpaceX’s Starbase.

Overview

  • Cards Against Humanity announced Friday that it will charge $10 to join an open design committee to develop an "Elon Musk is a Sad Little B----- with No Friends" monument on land it owns near Starbase.
  • The company bought the parcel in 2017 through a mass-donor campaign originally intended to block a US–Mexico border wall, which is why it retains public-facing, crowdfunding tactics for the project.
  • CAH sued SpaceX in 2024 alleging the company dumped construction materials on its land and reached a settlement in 2025 that led to removal of the disputed gravel, tractors and equipment before the area was annexed into the city of Starbase.
  • CAH has not released designs or permit plans but says it will direct 10% of some expansion-pack profits to the monument and is soliciting public input through its website.
  • The proposal raises practical questions about whether local permitting, Starbase’s municipal rules, and ongoing regulatory and safety concerns around SpaceX testing will allow a built structure or leave the project as a symbolic provocation.
