- ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Friday that Teryl Austin will join the Cardinals as a senior defensive assistant.
- Austin worked for the Steelers from 2019 to 2025 and served as defensive coordinator from 2022 to 2025 after earlier DC stints with the Lions and Bengals.
- He previously coached Arizona’s defensive backs from 2007 to 2009 during the team’s Super Bowl XLIII season.
- Arizona is adding experience after a 3–14 campaign in which its defense ranked 27th in yards allowed at 357.7 per game and 29th in points conceded at 28.7.
- Austin is the second veteran defensive addition this offseason, joining former Texas coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, now the Cardinals’ defensive line coach.
